Kento Momota overpowers Chun Hei Tam in Men’s Singles second round at Vietnam Open Grand Prix 2012
Japan’s spirited young player Kento Momota played to his best potential on court and remained successful in beating Hong Kong’s Chun Hei Tam in Men’s Singles second round at Yonex Sunrise Vietnam Open Grand Prix 2012 on Wednesday, August 22, in Vietnam.
The un-seeded Momota, who has been showing his remarkable skills in all of his fights at the tournament, worked really hard against Chun Hei and managed to chuck out him in three games.
The in-form Japanese shuttler could not stop his rival from taking the opening set but he fought impressively and took the following both sets to stamp his mark over Chun Hei with a convincing margin on the board.
The aggressive Chun Hei, on the contrary, played impressive badminton in opening set but failed to continue his killing run in the following sets and eventually knelt down to his Japanese opponent in rubber sets.
The first game was shocking for Momota who was not ready to receive such a severe treatment from his Hong Kong opponent.
Chun Hei played with impressive speed and remained successful in building a huge lead until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Japanese shuttler tried his best to get close on score board but he failed badly to stop his rival and lost the game with a one-sided score of 13-21.
Nevertheless, Momota delivered a terrific performance in the second game by changing his tactics. He was aggressive this time and remained miles ahead until the one-minute break.
After the interval, Momota remained consistent in his elevated play by leaving no room for his rival and easily wrapped up the set with a stunning 21-11 margin on the board.
In the decider, Momota was in complete control of rallies and was everywhere on court as he did not show any mercy to his Hong Kong challenger and took a remarkable lead until the break.
After the mid-game interval, the in-form Japanese shuttler maintained his supremacy on court by playing at the same speed and ended the set with a smashing 21-7 difference on score board.
The passionate Momota eventually won this three-set contest against Chun Hei with an overall margin of 13-21, 21-11 and 21-7.
