  1. Is this a horse racing question?

  2. For the same reason that there are slums in Chicago, abundant homeless in New York, black lung disease in West Virginia, and air quality warnings in California. There are poor and impoverished in every state. Certainly there are poor sections, traditional areas, and even the mountain 'hollers'. But, you will find that in every state in the US. I live in KY, and it is a lovely state with temperate weather, green most of the year, some of the finest horses in the world, and some of the nicest people in the country.

  3. the people are great

  4. I was in Kentucky for the Derby last spring.  I liked it.  It's very midwestern, with a definite touch of the south.

  5. I've only been to Kentucky once and pretty much stayed around the Lexington/Louisville area.

I found the people to be very friendly and polite and could see nothing wrong with the towns themselves.

Whilst driving around, I did notice quite a few poor areas - there is obviously a lot of deprivation in some areas of Kentucky, but seeing as it is the only place in the USA I have ever been to, I can't compare it very well.

  6. What do you mean? Kentucky is a beautiful state.I have been there 3 times and I plan to go back.I also found the people friendly.

  7. I'm from Ky, and describing what it's like depends on what area of the state you're in. The horse country around Lexington and Louisville are very beautiful, the people (for the most part) are very polite. In most of the smaller towns, the people are still very nice and polite, but unfortunately there are several areas around here that are extremely poor, and the people tend to prove just about any negative stereotype about the state.
