Kentucky Wildcats’ Randall Cobb apologizes for comments
Kentucky Wildcats wide receiver Randall Cobb apologized to fans for comments he made on twitter after his team defeated the South Carolina Gamecocks on 16 October.
The youngster made the final catch for a game winning touchdown in the contest and was angry that Wildcat fans had left before the game was finished. The junior was so upset over the lack of fan support that he posted comments on his Twitter account chastising
fans for leaving and not caring about the success of the football team.
However, Cobb said he realized what he had done only minutes later and removed the comments. The youngster was regretful over his decision and claims that most Wildcat fans are, in fact, supportive.
“I just took a small chunk and made it something big. I can’t do that. I made a mistake. I am a man, I admit my mistake and I want to come out and let everybody know that I’m sorry. I hope [the fans] can forgive me.”
The Wildcats victory over the Gamecocks was one of the most surprising upsets of the season. The Gamecocks had just come off a win over number one Alabama and was granted the 10th overall rank in the Bowl Championship standings. South Carolina
was leading until Cobb caught a 24-yard touchdown pass at the very end of the game, to give Kentucky the victory.
It was clear, the possible Heisman Trophy nominee, was angry after the game, complaining about the fans lack of support. “To all fans: loved seein y’all come late, love hearing y’all tell us we suck during the game, love that we have to play against our
own fans, too!”
Cobb has been outstanding this season and despite his team’s 4-3 record has received a great deal of national attention for his play. The youngster has notched 466 receiving yard along with five touchdowns, accumulated three rushing and passing touchdowns
and one touchdown on special teams.
