Kentucky Wildcats have a reunion at the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago – NBA News
This is an exciting time to be in Chicago as the NBA has converged there to participate in the NBA Draft combine, a pre-draft training camp where all draft prospects participate in workouts and training sessions to showcase their
talent and skills.
Top executives and coaches from all the NBA teams head down to the Draft Combine to talk to future prospects and watch them play.
However, this year has seen a different kind of reunion in Chicago, a reunion of the Kentucky basketball team. Six members of the Kentucky Wildcats, including all five starters, are taking part in the NBA Draft. And they got a
chance to have a reunion at the hotel they were staying.
They all met in Anthony Davis’ room to talk about the past few months of their lives, and what the future holds for them.
The Kentucky Wildcats won the NCAA championship this year after beating the Kansas Jayhawks. Six players from that team are all set to be picked up by NBA teams in this year’s draft.
Anthony Davis, the 6 foot 10 forward who was named the most outstanding player of the final four and was the unanimous national college player of the year, is tipped to be the number 1 pick of this year’s draft.
“It shows what a special team we are. We always were there for each other. It's good to be around my brothers,” said forward Terrence Jones.
Forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist is expected to join Anthony Davis and Terrence Jones as a lottery pick. Guards Doron Lamb and Marquis Teague could also be picked up in the first round. Even Darius Miller
has a good chance of being picked up in the first round of this year’s draft. In 2010, Kentucky became the first ever team to have five players picked in the first round of the NBA Draft. This year they are looking to make it six.
"We're not overshadowed. We just have a lot of talent on that team. We obviously had a great season winning the national championship. Everybody can't get the same recognition as everybody else. But we'll never forget what we accomplished
together,” said Lamb at the occasion.
