Kentucky derby post position question?

so what day this week do they announce the field, and also post positions?...i have to put my bets in on thursday b/c i dont have any free time to do it closer to the race.

  1. it is always the Wednesday before the race...not sure you can get para-mutel bets in on Thursday (except for the Oaks-Derby double which allows you time to bet Fridays Oaks race on Thursday , Ive seen that on the machine on Thursday) , but i know all the simulcast spots take action on the Friday before for the other win/place/show/trifecta/superfecta and I believe pick 3 and 4 bets...


  2. They will announce the field and post positions on Wednesday, May 2nd on ESPN  2 at 5pm, depending where you live.  Check your newspaper for the time in your area.

  3. The post position draw wil be held on Wednesday at 5pm.  You can watch it live on ESPN2's Sportscenter from the Kentucky Derby from 5-6pm.
