Kenwood Audio Amp KA-5040R - remains in standby

Question

I have a kenwood audio amp that remains in the standby mode when first powered up. If I power down/up several times then it will eventually go in normal mode and work ok.....Once i power it down and try and repower it in a few hrs same thing...i have to power it up/down several times before the speakers will kick in.....but when they do it works normally. It will continue to work normally even on power up/downs but if I turn power off for a long duration is when the trouble starts again.
