Kenwood kvt-911dvd disc error for dvd play?

Question

Just got this unit for my truck and it plays cds great but insert a dvd from g rated to r rated and it says disc error on the screen. I look it up in the manual and it says under disc error that it is an unreadable disc inserted. I tried 20 different dvds and they all say the same thing any sugestions? Thanks - Ken
