Question:

Kenwood or Polk Audio?

I had been looking at a subwoofer setup for sometime. I was going to get 2 Kenwood 12" subs and run 400W each to them, in a sealed box. For the box and subs alone, it would cost about $175 online. At circuitcity, there is a polk audio setup with 2 12"s in a ported box, each with a 360W RMS rating, for about $90. Are the kenwoods worth the huge jump in price for the performance? (They would both be powered adaquately.)

  1. The Polk setup is a bargain at $90.  Issue is do you want the sealed or ported setup.  Comparing the two is almost like comparing apples & oranges.

  2. No, definately not. The Polk setup will sound and perform better anyway. It will also be more efficient and hit harder and tighter than the Kenwoods.
