Chairman of Everton FC, Bill Kenwright paid tributes to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tim-Cahill-c35085, after the Australian International parted ways with the Toffees to join the Major Soccer League outfit New York Red Bulls.
The 32-year old arrived at Goodison Park before the start of the 2004/05 term from Millwall, for a transfer fee believed to be in the region of 1.5 million pounds. He proved to be an instant hit at Everton, as he scored the highest number of goals for his
team during his first full season. Consequently, he won the club’s Player of the Season accolade in 2005.
All in all, he capped 278 appearances for Everton in all competitions and claimed 68 goals during this period.
However, after failing to play any significant role in the Toffees previous campaign, Cahill decided to ply his trade at some other club. On the 26th of July, the Metros officially confirmed his signature, after he signed a three and a half year
deal with them.
Nevertheless, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019 supremo revealed that he was saddened to see Cahill decamp from Goodison Park, but felt that he has ended his career at the club on a high.
He also went on to offer the player his best wishes in his future endeavours, and mentioned that he will always remain in the hearts of the Everton fans.
The chairman told the reporters in an interview, “We accepted this offer for Tim with a heavy heart but it is a great way for him to end his Everton career. The transfer salutes Tim's unswerving commitment to our cause over the last eight years and also
respects his desire never to play against Everton.”
After finalizing his terms of agreement with the Reds Bulls, the midfielder will now have to do the waiting http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684, as the transfer deal is yet to be cleared by FIFA.
Anyhow, Kenwright also unravelled that Cahill was the first player that he went to see alongside manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-c10409 Moyes during his tenure. He claimed that he had seen at that time a lot of energy and enthusiasm in him, and backed him to leave an imprint on
the American league.
