Kenya scored a fighting total of 198 runs in their Group A match of the ICC World Cup 2011 against Canada, at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750.
Kenyan captain Jimmy Kamande elected to bat first after winning the toss. The pitch was good for batting, but it slowed down to some extent as the match progressed.
The innings was started by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Seren-Waters-c89209 and wicketkeeper batsman Maurice Ouma; however the pair failed to get going. Ouma was the first man to be dismissed without troubling the scorers. He was soon followed by his opening partner, who managed only two runs
before getting out.
This brought the Obuya brothers, Collins and David, to the crease. The younger of the two, Collins took the charge to Canada and increased the run-rate. However, David didn’t last long at the crease, as he added just two runs to the total.
The fall of David’s wicket brought Steve Tikolo to the crease. The veteran batsman looked comfortable at the wicket and tried to build a partnership with Collins, who threw his wicket away with a needless shot. He scored 31 runs off 35 balls, hitting three
fours and one huge six.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tanmay-Mishra-c92705 joined Tikolo in the middle, but the former Kenyan captain got out at the wrong time, making things worse for his team. Kenya were struggling with five wickets down for just 57 runs. The team needed a solid effort from their captain Kamande,
who put together a 50-run partnership with Mishra for the sixth wicket. The pair took their team’s total over 100 and things looked better for the Africans.
However, Kamande was unable to capitalise on the start he got, and was dismissed after scoring 22 runs from 58 balls. His wicket brought veteran all-rounder Thomas Odoyo to the crease. Both Odoyo and Mishra guided their team out of trouble with another 50-run
partnership. Mishra played brilliantly for his 51 runs from 73 balls. However, he got out at a time when the team needed some aggressive shots from him.
Odoyo didn’t panic with the fall of Mishra, and the veteran player made sure that his team batted out the complete 50 overs. The fighting all-rounder was the last man to be dismissed on the final ball of the innings, after he had scored 51 runs off 62 balls.
Henry Osnide was the pick of the bowlers, as he took four wickets for his team. He got some good support from Harvir Baidwan and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rizwan-Cheema-c2328, who grabbed two wickets each.
