Kenya were struggling against Canada in their Group A match of the ICC World Cup 2011, as the African team lost five wickets for 87 runs half way through their innings. The match is being played at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750.
The conditions were very good for batting, and the pitch had no assistance for the bowlers. This forced Kenyan captain Jimmy Kamande to bat first after winning the toss. Canada’s captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashish-Bagai-c46284 stated that he would have also elected to bat, had he
won the toss.
However, the start to the Kenyan innings was dismal, as the top order failed to score runs. Wicketkeeper batsman Maurice Ouma got out in the very first over of the match for a duck. His opening partner http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Seren-Waters-c89209 didn’t last long either, as he was dismissed
after adding just two runs to the total.
The first-drop http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Collins-c51521 Obuya played his strokes freely from one end in order to lift the run-rate, but his elder brother David Obuya was dismissed for just two runs at the other end. The fall of Obuya’s wicket brought former Kenyan captain Steve Tikolo
to the middle. The veteran batsman looked comfortable at the crease and rotated the strike to Collins Obuya, who was playing aggressive cricket.
However, Collins gave his wicket away in an attempt to smash the ball out of the park. He scored 31 runs from 35 balls, hitting three fours and one massive six over mid-off in his innings. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tanmay-Mishra-c92705 then walked out to join Tikolo in the middle. After
adding 12 runs to the total from 20 balls, Tikolo missed a straight ball which struck him on his pads, and he was given out leg-before-wicket (LBW) by the umpire.
The African team was struggling at that stage with five wickets down for just 57 runs. However, captain Kamande and Mishra steadied the innings with an unbeaten 30-run stand for the sixth wicket. At the end of 25 overs, Mishra was unbeaten on 25 from 34
balls whereas; Kamande was not-out on 13 off 38 balls. The pair will be looking forward to bat steadily until the 40th over, before scoring quickly in the death overs.
Henry Osnide was in menacing form for Canada, as the tall fast bowler took three wickets for his team in his opening spell of seven overs.
