Kenya v Namibia – ICC Africa Region Division One Twenty20 - Match Recap
Namibia have beaten Kenya by a massive margin of eight wickets and more than seven overs to spare, in a fixture of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Africa Region Division One Twenty20 competition at the Lugogo Cricket Oval, Kampala on July 10, 2011.
Star of the show for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Craig-David-Williams-c51678, who played a stunning knock under trying circumstances to guide his team home.
Kenyan captain, Kennedy Ochieng won the toss and elected to bat first on a track that was expected to go lower and slower with the passage of time.
However, the Kenyan batsmen failed to justify their captain’s decision and could not come to terms with the disciplined bowling of Namibia.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Duncan-c54739 Allan, was the only Kenyan batsman, who was able to dictate terms to the Namibian bowlers. However, it was a lone effort as he did not get any kind of a support from the other end.
Allan played some stunning shots and scored 58 runs off only 49 balls, in which he struck six boundaries and three massive hits out of the park.
At one stage, Kenya was placed well with 81 runs for the loss of only two wickets because of Allan’s efforts. After his dismissal, Kenyan batting started to fall like a house of cards and the whole team was restricted to only 105 runs for the loss of eight
wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
Ironically, apart from Allan, none of the Kenyan batsmen were able to reach the double figures.
Louis http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Louis-Klazinga-c73186 also shined with a couple of victims.
Chasing http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Williams-c98034 led his team from the front and played an outstanding innings to
throw http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kenya-c752 out of the competition.
The Namibian captain smashed the Kenyan bowlers all around the park and literally demoralized them. He scored 70 runs off only 41 balls with the help of five fours and as many hits out of the park and remained unbeaten.
Namibia chased down the total in only the 13th over of the innings for the loss of two wickets.
Raj Savala and Allan picked up a wicket each but failed to halt Namibia’s progress.
Williams was named as the Player of the Match for his fantastic knock.
Kenya used to be a http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gordon-James-Muchall-c60376 better team about five years back but this is an alarming defeat for them and they should be looking to overhaul the structure of cricket in the country.
