At the end of the third day of the ongoing http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kenya-c752 had lost four wickets, on a total of 76 runs in the second innings.
Started on Thursday July 28, 2011, the crucial four-day contest is taking place at the Gymkhana Club Ground, Nairobi, Kenya. After taking a tiny lead of six runs in the first innings, the Kenyans failed to prevent the UAE side from posting a huge score in
the second innings.
While the tourists started the third day at 155/3, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Amjad-Javed-c44094 were unbeaten at the crease with individual scores of 70 and 66 respectively. They continued the good job and kept on hammering the Kenyan bowlers.
In the morning session, the Kenyan skipper, Collins Obuya, tried all of his options for a breakthrough but the blistering stroke-play by the two batsmen left him with no choice except a defensive field-set.
After sharing a massive 190-run-partnership with Saqib, Javed was the first man to go on the third day. He collected 100 runs with help of nine lovely boundaries and two towering sixes. Javed’s departure did not cause any trouble for the visiting side, as
the skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khurram-Khan-c71386, joined Saqib at the crease and carried forward the momentum.
Both batsmen provided their side a thrilling 141-run-stand for the fifth wicket, steering the side to a strong position. Saqib got out after adding 153 runs while http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319 hit a beautiful innings of 113 off 142 balls.
Later in the innings, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Tauqir-c77416 contributed 38 quick runs, before the tourists declared the innings at 439 for the loss of eight wickets.
That set a huge target of 434 for the home side. A good start was needed but the Kenyans failed to begin the show on a high. The two openers, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rakep-Rajendra-Patel-c83650 and Runish Gudhka, started their innings cautiously, leaving the deliveries going the outside the off-stump.
However, the UAE pacers got the better of them as the first wicket fell in the eight over, when Javed dismissed Gudhka at an individual score of four.
Four runs later, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CO-Obuya-c1276; yet, the two batsmen showed some character, giving their side a helping hand by scoring a crucial 45-run-partnership.
Wesonga became the victim of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Arshad-Ali-c76710 who trapped him in front of the wickets when he was looking good at 19.
The problem did not end there as the new batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/T-Mishra-c2629, was also unsuccessful to do something special, giving away his wicket to Tauqir after putting in just two runs.
With six wickets in hand, the home side is still 358 runs short of UAE’s target. To save the game, the Kenyans will have to play out of their skins on the fourth day of the game.
