Kenya v http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 – ICC Intercontinental Cup One-Day - 3rd Match - Match Recap
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Intercontinental Cup at the Gymkhana Club Ground, Nairobi, on July 25, 2011.
It was a low scoring encounter as the playing conditions were not ideal for stroke-play because of rain. This was the reason the match was disturbed and eventually the UAE’s innings was reduced down to 35 overs, according to the Duckworth
Lewis Method.
The home team won the toss and elected to bat first, in order to make best use of the pitch which was expected to slow down with the passage of time.
Kenya was off to a poor start as they lost three of their top order batsmen for only 21 runs on the board. However, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajesh-Premji-Varsani-c83533 consolidated the innings for the home team and constructed a brilliant partnership, which
turned out to be a match-winning one.
The two of them scored 133 runs for the fourth wicket partnership and sealed the advantage for their team. However, the batsmen to follow could not come to terms against the UAE bowlers and as a result, the whole team was dismissed in the
last over of the innings for 210 runs.
Mishra remained the top scorer for his team with a solid 66 which came off 92 balls, in which he struck seven boundaries. Varsani was a little more sedate as he used up 100 balls for his 57 runs, which came with the help of five fours.
Fast bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shoaib-Sarwar-c90093, was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors as he grabbed a five-wicket haul after giving away only 23 runs in his 10 overs.
UAE was given a target of 186 runs in 35 overs but they were off to a worst possible start as the visitors lost four wickets for just eleven runs on the board. The early blows threw the visitors out of the game and they never recovered
again, although, wicketkeeper/batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nasir-c78728 Aziz showed some resistance.
The visitors managed to score only 119 runs in their 35 overs for the loss of eight wickets and fell short by a big margin.
Amjad scored 30, whereas, Raza and Aziz scored 29 and 28 runs respectively.
Kenyan fast bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajesh-Lalji-Bhudia-c83524, was the chief destroyer as he picked up five scalps after giving away 21 runs in his seven overs.
This is a heartening victory by the Kenyan team as they have faced some problems in their domestic cricket recently and they are in a rebuilding phase.
