Kenya versus Zimbabwe – ICC World Cup 2011 Preview
Eden Gardens is the venue for Kenya and Zimbabwe’s final match of the ICC World Cup 2011 on Sunday. With neither side having any chance of qualifying for the knock-out stage of the competition, the match will be played with nothing but pride on the line.
Kenya has more to play for though, as they will be hoping to end the competition with some points in group A. Having lost all the five matches they have played so far, the Kenyan side will not wish to go ‘Dutch’ and end the tournament, as the only team in
their group without a single win.
Zimbabwe on the other hand will look to add to their maiden win in the tournament so far, as they look to finish the group stages on a high. Having already crushed the Canadian side by a large margin of 175 runs and putting in respectable performances against
other sides, the Zimbabweans will enter the field on Sunday as pre-match favourites.
Kenya, on the other hand, has struggled throughout the group stage losing to the Canadians when all the pundits had them winning the game with a comfortable margin. After having been demolished in their opening match after they managed to score only 69 runs
against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, the Kenyans just could not find their rhythm.
Both sides have had issues with the bat in this tournament. Kenya more than Zimbabwe, as the Kenyans only managed to reach the 250 runs mark once this tournament albeit in a failed run chase against the Australians. Usually faltering around the 150 runs
mark, the Kenyan side will hope for a better performance against their African rivals.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 has had more to cheer about, though not as often as they would have liked. Craig Ervine is their leading run scorer managing 165 runs with his highest score standing at 85 runs. He has been the more consistent of his side’s batting line-up, but
the likes of Brendan http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tatenda-Taibu-c92882 can also put in handy knocks as they proved with their innings of 80 runs and 98 runs respectively.
In the bowling department Zimbabwe have the stronger performers in the World Cup, if they are to be compared with the Kenyans. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/William-Price-c97739 and Chris Mpofu are the pick of the bowlers for the Zimbabwe side with the former having taken a respectable
seven wickets and Mpofu following close behind with six. Kenya’s bowling has not been anywhere near as good as they have struggled throughout their miserable World Cup campaign.
As it stands, it seems like an easy win is on the cards for the Zimbabweans, but http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751, it will be a match not
to miss.
