Kenyon Martin, Michael Redd: Free agents who will be sought after in 2011-12 - NBA Special Report
Once the lockout is finally over, which it is bound to be in the end, the free agency period will begin. Teams, players, owners all will be seen in action once again in search of good contracts. Getting a good grab off the market
will be everyone’s primary objective but not many will manage to lay hands on young talents: more veterans are roaming around as free agents this season instead of young players with young energy.
One such veteran is the Denver Nuggets’ power forward Kenyon Martin. The Denver champ is ready to offer any team an easily feasible contract with commendable output that can help many teams out there in the run to win a championship.
He is the one to have assisted in leading his former team, the New Jersey Nets, to the finals a couple times as well. One such talent out in the market is definitely an offer hard to miss. Although he did miss many games the previous season due to his knee
injuries, he managed to play 30 plus minute in 17 of the games. With the league’s one of the best power forward, the Denver Nuggets will also be looking to sign the superstar once again.
Chris Wilcox is another free agent out there looking for a new home. Why should teams be looking forward to offer him space on their roster? Well because of his outstanding performances the previous season. The Detroit Piston starting
centre is just 28 years of age and a true veteran who has been in the business for the past nine-years. He averaged 17 points per game with the Pistons. The Pistons were better off with him on the floor rather than sending him on the bench. As a result, Wilcox
made his career best minutes per game this past season with the Detroit Pistons.
Another good pick out there to make the defences work is Michael Redd of the Milwaukee Bucks. The 6ft 6in shooting guard turns 32 next month. His career has been somewhat been hindered due to his knee injury and he only managed
to play sixty-one games in the last three seasons. Before his injury, though, Redd played with an average of around 22.1 points per game. Many teams need such players out there. Redd is one such offer that will be not so hard to get due to the cost of his
contract as well: Redd spent more than half of his time on the bench the last three seasons. His contract cannot be expected to be much expensive. Especially after the lockout is over and God knows what new rules and regulations it brings out with it this
time, quality players might be hard to get too easily. So at such times, veterans like Michael Redd are best to have around as an option.
With all these options, the team shall recommence business surely after the lockout comes to an end. The best men out there will be looking for teams and the teams for them. We can just wait and watch which team hits the jackpot
and brings around a group of quality players who have chemistry between them out there on the courts.
