Keralan breakfast/tea?

i'm going to kerala this xmas & would like to know what a traditional kerelan breakfast is. not what i can expect in a hotel but what do kerelans have themselves?

also i'm a big tea drinker , do they produce their own in kerala.

  1. I haven`t been to Kerala but I wouldn`t think it is much different than Goa, and the breakfasts there were  a lot of fresh fruit and scrambled eggs which were spicy. Very good


  2. hi again, Puttu & Kadala(peanut)Curry is the traditional breakfast of kerala. Puttu is nothing but a mixture of rice flour and grated fresh coconut, it is steamed and served with kadala urry, and also in olden days people used to take boiled tapioca,as breakfast with crushed red chillies. still tapioca is every keralities favorite. puttu and kadala curry is available in almost all the hotels. chk this link:

    and yes,kerala has its own tea plantations over the north eastern ghats, its a touristic place, famous for hill resorts. you can find tea stalls everywhere youmove around... enjoy.

  3. Famous Kerala Breakfast is Put and Kadala, which you may not get in star hotels, but in medium to small hotels in Kerala.

  4. Appam with chicken stew, fresh pineapple and coffee - that is what I was treated to, Yummy!
