If he goes on the DL who will be the Cubs closer and is he worth picking up if you need saves?

They'll be fine. Marmol will probably close, and they'll try using some minor league talent to fill in the gaps. Anyones guess who would be the set-up man during all of this.

Bobby Howry or Carlos Marmol.  At the beginning it seemed like Marmol would be the replacement, but with the way hes faltered since June 1st, my guess would eb Howry gets the nod before Marmol, as Howry has more experience, as closing and pitching overall, and we know what we would get from him, not too many question marks, but that doesn't mean Lou wouldn't give Marmol a shot.

If Wood is let go of, I would think he is a good pickup, cause chances are you could get him pretty cheap, cause no one is gonna offer him the huge contract with his health concerns, so he'd be cheap, and since going to the bullpen, he hasn't had any major problems, and overall, if there wern't a ridiculous amount of good closers now a days, he'd be one of the top closers, although, he still is pretty good, he's had a few shaky outings, but hes 2nd in the NL for saves with 24.  Overall, I wouldn't mind him closing the way he has for years to come.  He scares the heck out of you on the mound, but he normally does his job and gets you the win.

I think Marmol (scoreless 9th inning sunday) will get 1st shot at closing a few games while Wood is out & Howry will set him up.

Wood hasn't pitched since 7-11 so if they place him on the 15 day DL it will start on the 12th. he will be able to pitch again on the 27th at the earliest. it's a blister not a shoulder, i don't see him out long.
