Keryn McMaster occupies Women’s 200m IM gold – Swimming news
Keryn McMaster of Waterworx occupied gold medal in the Women’s 200m Individual Medley (IM) on opening day of the 2013 Swimming Australia Time Trials in Brisbane on Friday, June 21.
The 19-year-old McMaster stifled hopes of her opponents in the IM discipline as she cruised her way towards the finishing end for the title. She faced no competition from her opponents in the race as she secured the title.
With her impeccable pace, McMaster remained almost four body lengths ahead of her following swimmer as she tapped the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 16.78 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Hayley Baker of MVC, who remained 3.93 seconds away from her foregoing finisher as she tapped the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 20.71 seconds.
The second best finisher was chased by Emily Nicol of North West, who proved her mettle for third position of the race by producing an effort of 2 minutes and 22.08 seconds.
Fourth fastest spot of the discipline was obtained by Leah Neale of Central Brisbane, who was 3.09 seconds slower and posted an effort of 2 minutes and 25.17 seconds.
Fifth position of the race was obtained by Kiah Melverton of Tss Aquatic, who was one and a half body length behind and posted a time of 2 minutes and 26.52 seconds.
Sixth spot of the race was obtained by Tay Corry of Nelson Bay, who was 10 seconds slower and clocked an effort of 2 minutes and 36.27 seconds.
Subsequently, Corry was chased by Ka Clarke of Park Yeronga, who was considerably slower and tapped the wall for seventh place with an effort of 2 minutes and 38.14 seconds.
Last spot of the race was obtained by AM Fowler of UWA Uniswim, who tried hard to improve her position in the playoff but failed to do so. She stayed almost three seconds slower from her preceding finisher and posted an effort of 2 minutes and 41.08 seconds
for eighth place.
In addition, McMaster expressed happiness over her victory in the 200m discipline and collected medals at the prize ceremony of the race.
