Aleksandr Kerzhakov has urged Zenit St. Petersburg to win the remaining matches of the campaign and has denied a rift with fellow team-mate, Hulk.
Zenit St. Petersburg made a vital contribution to reduce the deficit from the top of the Russian Premier League table after defeating Lokomotiv Moscow 1-0 at Lokomotiv stadium on Sunday.
Though their latest win against the Moscow-based club has not changed their position on the league table, they have reduced the deficit to the top to only six points with just six games remaining until the end of the ongoing campaign.
As things stand, CSKA Moscow are atop the league table with 56 points and lead Zenit and Anzhi Makhachkala by 6 and 10 points respectively.
The St. Petersburg, meanwhile, managed to reach the quarter-final of the domestic cup after defeating Mordovia Saransk 2-0 at Star Stadium back in October.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Aleksandr-Kerzhakov-c4569 has urged his side to win the remaining six league meetings in order to retain the league title this season. The 30-year-old, meanwhile, suggested the Meshki to win the league cup for their fans.
“I think we are still in the title race. I think the fight for first place will continue until the last match of the season.”
“It's hard to say the reason behind our fall but I know we did not perform at times partly because of subjective reasons. We found it difficult to show good football in March.
“In football nothing is impossible. We understand that we have to win every match. Moreover, I have a strong belief that if we win all six remaining meetings, we will be champions. We want to win the championship and the Cup.”
The former Dynamo Moscow man was quoted as saying.
News in Russian media suggest that Kerzhakov had a dressing room fight with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hulk-c16436 after the Brazilian striker argued on the pitch to take a spot kick in the league tie against FC Krylia Sovetov Samara at Petrovsky stadium earlier
this month.
Speaking on a possible rift with fellow team-mate, Kerzhakov denied the rumours to fight with the former Tokyo Verdy man.
