Kestutis Navickas tames Arnaud Genin to surge into Men’s Singles quarter-final at Polish Open 2012
Lithuania’s ace shuttler Kestutis Navickas eased into Men’s Singles quarter-final as he proved his worth in round-of-16 clash when he crushed Arnaud Genin of France at the Polish Open 2012 at Lubin, Poland, on Friday, August 31.
The lofty Kestutis, who is the top seeded shuttler in Men’s Singles main draw of the championship, showed his aggressive skills on court and he easily emerged as the winner against his un-seeded opponent without facing any trouble.
The in-form Kestutis proved that he has achieved a certain level of skills as he did not show any sign of confusion throughout the set and remained confident in his play. He easily tamed his French opponent in straight sets in just 27 minutes.
On the other hand, the lower ranked Arnaud could not stretch his winning performance in the tournament as he failed to put up strong competition against his top seeded opponent and lost the battle in two games with a comfortable margin on the board.
The opening game started in a thrilling fashion as Kestutis played to his maximum potential and showed his remarkable skills by setting up a wonderful lead without taking much time.
The higher ranked Kestutis was in strong position at the end of opening half in first game as he reached at 11-7.
After the mid-game interval, the in-form Lithuanian shuttler continued putting up strong performance without sparing any chance for his French challenger and remained successful in taking the opening game with a spectacular 21-13 score on the board.
In the second game, Kestutis played in the similar fashion and took a remarkable lead at the initial stage without facing any problem.
However, Arnaud also played attacking badminton this time and he remained successful in making the score levelled at 10-10.
Until the mid-game interval, both shuttlers failed to set up a comfortable lead on the score board.
After the break, Kestutis geared up his speed and played with impressive control in his strokes which assisted him to grab the second game with a huge difference of 21-14.
Kestutis won this Men’s Singles round-of-16 clash in straight games in 27 minutes with a stunning 21-13 and 21-14 score on the board.
