Kevin Cordes grabs Men’s 100m breaststroke gold – Swimming News
Kevin Cordes of Tucson Ford Deal grabbed gold medal of Men’s 100m breaststroke on day three of the 2013 Arena International Grand Prix at the George F. Haines International Swim Center on Sunday, June 2.
19-year-old Cordes devastated hopes of his challengers in the 100m discipline, as he rushed his way towards the finishing end for gold medal. With his commendable form, he stifled hopes of his challengers and transpired on the
finishing end for the title.
Cordes stunned the aquatic crowd with his dominating form in the playoff, as he overpowered the fastest qualifying swimmer for the title. He remained half a body length ahead of his following swimmer and stepped on the finishing
end for gold medal by producing an effort 1 minute and 00.47 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Glenn Snyders of Trojan Swim Club, who was only 0.52 seconds slower from his preceding swimmer and ended up his race in second place by touching the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 00.99 seconds.
The second best finisher was chased by Felipe Lima of Fiat Minas, who was only 0.22 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 01.21 seconds for bronze medal.
Fourth finest spot of the race was obtained by Mike Alexandrov of Una Troj-CA, who was only 0.22 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and surfaced on the finishing end with an effort of 1 minute and 01.43 seconds.
Alexandrov was chased by Azad Al-Barazi of Trojan Swim Club, who was just 0.40 seconds slower from his former finisher and emerged on the finishing end with an effort of 1 minute and 01.83 seconds for fifth place.
Sixth position of the event was obtained by Richard Funk of Club Wolverine-M, who was nearly 0.80 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and clocked an effort of 1 minute and 02.64 seconds.
Seventh position of the race was obtained by BJ Johnson of Palo Alto Stanford, who was comfortably behind and posted a time of 1 minute and 02.65 seconds.
Eighth position of the race was obtained by Scott Weltz of Ucd Aquatics-SN, who was half body length apart and posted an effort of 1 minute and 03.22 seconds.
Furthermore, Cordes was happy with his undisputed efforts while the position holders received medals and accolades at the victory ceremony of the tournament.
