Kevin Doo secures Men’s 200m butterfly gold – 2013 CeraVe Invitational
Kevin Doo of SCAR-NJ secured gold medal of the Men’s 200m butterfly in 13-14 year olds category on second day of the 2013 CeraVe Invitational at Berkeley Aquatic Club, on Saturday, January 12, 2013.
The 14-year-old Doo devastated hopes of his opponents in the distant butterfly discipline and secured another gold medal of the race. With his astounding pace, he showed no leniency to his challenger and tapped the wall for the title.
He stayed almost eight seconds faster from his closest swimmer and clocked a time of 2 minutes and 12.39 seconds for gold medal.
The champion was followed by Justin Torres of SCAR-NJ, who was 7.95 seconds behind and surfaced on the wall for silver medal by clocking an effort of 2 minutes and 20.34 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Chris Balbo of SCAR-NJ, who was 0.33 seconds slower and stepped on the victory stand for bronze medal with the timing of 2 minutes and 20.67 seconds.
Similarly, fourth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Sriniram Narasimhan of North Baltimore, who was nearly two and a half body length slower and reached the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 23.98 seconds.
Subsequently, fifth position of the race was obtained by Anton Khrystenko of LIAC-MR, who was 0.22 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and emerged on the wall by clocking and effort of 2 minutes and 24.20 seconds.
Khrystenko was followed by Andrew Blomquist of North Baltimore, who was almost four seconds slower and clocked an effort of 2 minutes and 28.03 seconds for sixth position.
Seventh position of the event was secured by Jacob Lubinski of EEX-NJ, who was 2.14 seconds slower and clocked an effort of 2 minutes and 30.17 seconds.
Last spot of the race was obtained by Ryan Brown of LIAC-MR, who was 2.60 seconds apart and hit the finishing end by producing an effort of 2 minutes and 32.77 seconds.
In addition, the position holders received medals and accolades for their notable efforts and raked medal at the victory ceremony of the tournament after the session.
