Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and James Harden: the best Big Three in NBA - NBA Update
The contemporary game of basket ball has evolved to the point where the forwards share a much bigger responsibility. The scheme coined by Miami Heat Big Three has gathered immense popularity.
That is the reason almost all of the franchises vested their sources to articulate a troika that can carry both defensive and offensive assignments. Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen joined Paul Pierce and combined they resulted into
a Big Three, though they were there before Miami combined LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade but Heat's Big Three popularity and success is simply unprecedented.
However during this season Oklahoma City Thunder emerged with a similar strike force that was both inexperienced and young in contrast to the aforementioned teams, but their achievements were unmatched.
Kevin Durant, James Harden and Russell Westbrook became the nightmare of every worthy team in NBA. All of them in early 20’s, went onto question the ability of Miami Heat and quite recently ousted reigning MVP champions Dallas
Mavericks.
Thunder Big Three surpassed every hurdle and came out of every test with flying colours. They erupted late in the regular season to secure the 1st seed in the East and then trounced Mavs in the 1st playoffs round. The
impetus and confidence gathered helped them to gain a 4-1 advantage against Los Angeles Lakers in the semi-finals.
The credit to articulate such dynamic team out of clay goes to Thunder GM Sam Presti; he brought them together without spending extra money in free agency.
The three, young, energetic and explosive players are at the peak of their youth and imagine how lethal they will become in coming years. OKC are not alone going all the way to the finals this season but in coming seasons as well.
To substantiate the claim KD was the front runner for the MVP award, however fate and polls decided otherwise. But he has established himself as a player who can take high precision shots from any spot of the floor, resulting into
28 points per game average in the regular season on almost 50% shooting. In the postseason he averaged 26.7 points per game on 48% shooting. His towering 6’9’’ stature provides him to become a dominant defensive force and his talents will flourish with more
NBA experience.
Russell, the most explosive player in the league has proved his athleticism over the time. The way he takes his defender off the ball and beat him up and down the floor with his speed is a real sight to behold. He has matured over
the year as his choice of shots is improving as compared to the last season.
Similarly Harden, NBA’s 6th Man of the year award winner has emerged as a solid support coming off the bench. He is an all rounder and completes the equation when added with KD and Westbrook.
No other team has a better troika then OKC and this is just the start. To substantiate this claim they have simply routed Los Angeles Lakers in the playoffs semi-finals. No other team has troubled Kobe Bryant and squad the way
this young and dynamic trio did. LAL could only bag 1 game while Thunder bagged the rest 4 with relative ease.
