Kevin Durant, Serge Ibaka and LeBron James: NBA’s top performances from April 27th playoff games - Part 1
Durant leads OKC past Denver
On Wednesday night, Kevin Durant unleashed one of the most lethal assaults witnessed so far in the post season as he propelled the Oklahoma City (OKC) Thunder to
a series win over the Denver Nuggets. The mercurial power forward clinched 41 points and grabbed five rebounds in 42 minutes. His assault caught the Nuggets completely off guard and left them with a 100-97 loss in game 5 of Round 1. On the night, Durant was
the major force that kept the Thunder bolting forward and finally when the heat was on, he rocked the Bronchos with a vociferous surge down the stretch.
The 22-year-old shooting guard was phenomenal and shot 14-of-27 shots from the field. His performance was complimented by 11-of-12 free throws that gave his team
an additional advantage over the opposition. His two free throws and a jumper in the final minute saved his team the game, which the Nuggets were on the verge of winning.
Durant was later quoted as saying, "I was just thinking I didn't want to go back to Denver, it was cold and rainy and their crowd said some not nice things to us
so I didn't want to have to go back there. Our guys told me 'take the game over it's your time,' Russ [Westbrook] told me this is what you do now go do it."
Russell Westbrook
Durant did most of the damage on the night, but still the others had to pour in their performance to squeak past the spirited Nuggets. Russell Westbrook erupted with
14 points, five rebounds and four assists in the win. The player also made 7-of-10 free throws.
Perkins making his way through
Kendrick Perkins shot 4-of-9 from the field and also fired 3-of-4 from the free throw line to finish with 11 points. He also grabbed nine rebounds during the game
and was pivotal in holding the OKC defense together.
Ibaka swats his way out
Serge Ibaka did not have a great scoring night, but the forward/centre succeeded in blocking nine shots of the opposition. He only made one point in 35 minutes of
action but chipped in with eight rebounds and two assists in the win.
