Kevin Durant: Best games in the Western Conference Semifinals against the Los Angeles Lakers
In the second round of the Western Conference playoffs, Oklahoma City Thunder took on the might Los Angeles Lakers. Kevin Durant was again the key player for Thunder in this series and ended it as a leader in scoring with 134 points,
rebounds (34) and 8 steals. He also dished out 16 assists, seven less than Russell Westbrook.
Durant made 34 trips to the free throw line during the series and made good on 29 attempts. Here is a look at three of his best performances in the series which Oklahoma won 4-1.
22 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists – Game 2
Durant scored 25 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists in the 119-90 Game 1 romp against the Lakers, but it was his Game 2 exploits which were more significant, considering Thunder barely managed to squeak past with a 77-75 win.
Durant was again sensational in the fourth quarter, scoring 8 points. Most importantly he initiated a game winning 9-0 run, one in which he also made a key steal.
31 points and 13 rebounds – Game 4
After seeing his 31 point performance go to waste in a 99-96 loss in Game 3, Kevin Durant repeated the act and complemented it with 134 rebounds as well as OKC clinched a 103-100 win and took an intimidating 3-1 lead in the series.
Durant scored 11 points in the fourth quarter and knocked the go ahead three-pointer right over Metta World Peace with only 13.7 seconds remaining. OKC outscored the Lakers 32-20 in the fourth quarter.
25 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals – Game 5
Game 5 of the series saw Russell Westbrook outscore Kevin Durant for once, but it was a 25 point spurt from KD that went a long way in ensuring g that that Thunder overcame a 42 point night from Kobe Bryant.
Durant was 9 of 21 from the floor that night and also missed 4 of his 6 three points attempts, but again scored 8 points in the last quarter to ensure that OKC made their second consecutive appearance in the Western Conference
Finals.
