Kevin Durant: Performance Roundup in the 2011 NBA Western Conference semi-finals (Part 1)
The charismatic 6 ft 9 small forward Kevin Durant, who also has also the potential to play as a power forward, has come a long way in a very short span of time. Durant has proved what he can bring to the table in the last two seasons
as he almost single-handedly led Oklahoma City Thunder to countless victories.
Many former players and analysts consider Durant an exceptional player and a future Hall of Famer.
Broadcaster d**k Vitale once said about Durant, “Kevin Durant is the most prolific offensive skilled big perimeter player I've witnessed in many a year. His equals are three guys that made the jump from high school to the NBA:
Kevin Garnett, Tracy McGrady and Dirk Nowitzki.”
Kevin Durant in the face of the Oklahoma City (OKC) Thunder and their offense runs through him. Kevin has been the league top scorer for the last two years and has made several records his own. On February 17, 2009 Durant thumped
47 points and set the record of the highest score in a game by any Thunder. In game-3 of the first round against the Los Angeles Lakers on April 22, Kevin made the record of highest rebounds by an OKC player with 19 in that game.
Durant scored at an average of 30.1 points per game (ppg) and finished the 2010-11 season, scoring at a rate of 27.7. He was at the number six spot in 2009-10 postseason (26.7 ppg) and is currently sitting at second position in
the offensive leaders list with 28.0 ppg, second only to Dirk Nowitzki.
The 2009 season proved to be the turning point for Thunder as Kevin lifted them with his big plays. His electrifying form is still on and he led OKC not just in the 2010-11 regular-season, but also throughout the first-round series
against the Denver Nuggets, scoring 41, 23, 26, 31, and 41 points and saving Thunder in the clutch many time.
Then in the Western Conference semi-finals against the Memphis Grizzlies, Durant again turned it on and led his team to the Western Conference Finals for the first time after 1996. Here are the top performances of Durant in the
hard fought seven game series against the Grizzlies during the second-round of the 2011 playoffs.
