Kevin Durant and Chris Paul shine in a star studded exhibition game – NBA Update
Since every NBA activity is at a halt at present, courtesy of the lockout, charity matches are being organized by NBA players throughout the country, to stay match fit when the season starts and also to keep their fans entertained.
Last Saturday, several superstars of NBA gathered in Winston Salem to play a charity match that was hosted by New Orleans Hornets superstar, Chris Paul.
The charities games often lack the star presence and to some extent, the intensity, however this time around it was not the case. The game featuring the likes of LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade, Kevin Durant, Rudy g*y,
Stephen Curry, Kyrie Irving and John Wall was nothing less than a treat for the fans, who showed up in numbers to see their favourite players in action.
With so many big guns on the court, fireworks were expected. John Wall and James LeBron’s breathtaking show in the first few minutes certainly set the tone. James started with a two-hand reverse dunk and it was followed by Wall’s
behind the back dunk.
What followed was a scoring extravaganza. Kevin Durant and Chris Paul were the highlight of game finishing with 48 and 39 points respectively. In doing so, they led their team, the New Orleans Guards to a 175-146 win over the LeBron
James and Dwayne Wade’s side.
Rudy g*y, the Memphis grizzlies forward ended with 38 points, Dwyane Wade had 32 while James finished with 30 points. Chris Paul, the host of the game also finished with 11 rebounds for the only double-double of the game. He seemed
satisfied at the conclusion;
"I hope the fans are enjoying this, but I guarantee nobody is enjoying it more than us, these guys flew in here on their own time. People say this and that about NBA players and professional athletes, but these guys are doing this
out of the goodness of their heart."
Earlier in the day, Paul who is from Lewisville, a town close to Winston Salem handed a check of $25000 to WSSU in the midst of a football game.
