Kevin Durant excited about the exhibition game in Oklahoma City – NBA News
Oklahoma City Thunder super star Kevin Durant has been busy pulling some strings for a while now as he looks to arrange an exhibition game in Oklahoma City (OKC). The small forward is trying to get hold of as many NBA stars as
possible for the event and revealed that he was very excited at the prospect.
“So I wanted to do one in OKC for awhile now, and it’s started to come together now and I can’t wait.” Kevin said in an interview with Sports Radio Interviews.
Charity games featuring high profile NBA players have become a common feature of this off-season because of the NBA lockout. The league owners and players have disagreements over a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and
while it has deprived majority of fans from NBA action, a lot of them have got to see their super stars up close in such games all over the country.
Kevin has been part of many such ventures, including the one in Baltimore featuring the likes of Miami Heat super star LeBron James, New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony and New Orleans Hornets swingman Chris Paul.
Durant believes that, it was the game which really kicked things off and the players have been getting together for such games frequently ever since.
“We started off with one in Baltimore where all the guys — LeBron, Carmelo, CP, myself — we all played in that one and since then guys just started to schedule them and they just got better and better.” He said. “I think it just
starts its own self. When guys play in summer leagues throughout the summer, with us having this extended offseason, it was just so much fun you just had to keep it going. And guys like to play under the whistle.”
Kevin was also part of an exhibition tour of the Philippines early in the lockout. Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant and Chicago Bulls current MVP Derrick Rose also participated in the lucrative two-game extravaganza.
He has also appeared in numerous pro-am fixtures since then. A memorable one was in Rucker Park, where Durant stunned the fans with some swash buckling offensive display of 66 points.
His last such game was the encounter between the Goodman League and Team Philly. In that game, he was again at his supreme best and erupted with a game-high 55 points. The OKC fans will be hoping that he continues his from when
the NBA stars descend in Oklahoma City.
