Kevin Durant maintaining regular contact with his teammates and basketball – NBA Update
With the current lockout in effect, the NBA teams are not allowed to keep any sort of contact with their players. Had this not been the case, most teams, including Kevin Durant’s Oklahoma City Thunder, would have been in full training mode by now.
However, the 22 year old rising star has revealed that despite of the lockout, he has managed to stay in regular touch with all of his teammates.
“I've checked in with everybody. First off, I trust all my guys. They are all working hard and getting ready for next season. We're all family and we're going to keep checking in with each other and make sure we get through this.” Durant said.
The two times reigning scoring champion is wasting no time during this period and recently hired a personal trainer to keep himself in shape, irrespective of how long it takes to reach a new collective bargaining agreement. Durant also said that he is willing to organize private training sessions for all Oklahoma City Thunder players during this dry spell.
The 6ft 9 inch small forward also stated that not only has he been in contact with his teammates via the phone or the internet, he has been travelling throughout the summer in order to meet up with them. In fact, he had already organized a training session with his team members.
“I like travelling. Working out with the guys, it's going to help us get better.” Durant stated.
Kevin Durant is widely recognized as a vibrant and enthusiastic player. His energy levels are always sky high, be it on or off the court.
He was the very foundation upon which the Thunder developed a young core and were able carve their way into the Western Conference Finals last year, where they stopped short against the mighty Dallas Mavericks. However, by the time, the series ended, everybody knew that anew star has been born and it is due to his brilliance that the Thunder are already tipped to be one of the title favourites next year.
Kevin Durant has a bright future ahead of him, especially because he is surrounded by a bunch of extremely talented players like Russell Westbrook, Serge Ibaka and James Harden. Kevin admitted that he was distraught after losing to Dallas in the playoffs last season. However, he maintained that he was going to gun even harder this time around, and with such talented players around him, he remained positive about winning.
“The expectations are something we can't control. I know losing (to Dallas), it hurt. But I had to look at it from the bigger picture. We got better. I wanted to win, but I look at it now like we have to go through some things before we get all the way there.”
