Kevin Durant optimistic about the lockout: NBA Update
The National Basketball Association (NBA) locked out its players on July 1st when it failed to get a deal done with the player’s union on the new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Several negotiations have taken
place after that, but still no resolution has come out and no one is sure as to how long this situation will prevail in the league.
However, some players are still optimistic that the lockout will be lifted soon from the players and the NBA’s regular season will start on time. Among others, the Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant is also very confident
for the next season.
Playing a charity game in the Washington D.C, Durant spoke to some of the reporters and said after the match, “We all want to get a deal done. We want to start [the season] on time, but we have to stand up and fight for what’s
right for us as players, and hopefully everything goes well. I’m going to continue to keep being positive about the situation. I think we’re going to stand up and stick to what we want; I don’t think we’re going to give into a deal just because we want the
season to start. That’s a tough one to swallow, if the season is not going to start, but I’m staying positive.”
Durant made these comments when he participated in a charity game on Saturday 17th September at Coolidge High School in Northwest Washington. The other NBA stars, John Wall along with Jeff Green, Michael Beasley, DeMarcus
Cousins and Kemba Walker were also there to play the charity game.
This was the third occasion in less than a month that Durant came to play a charity game in the D.C/ Maryland area. He has also participated in the Goodman vs. Drew league, Melo League vs. Goodman game in the last month. He is
also scheduled to play a Pro-am game with the Goodman on 24th September in Indianapolis.
When Durant finished speaking with the reporters, the reporters turned their attention to John Wall and asked him couple of questions too regarding the ongoing lockout. Wall also replied with optimism and said as he is ready to
wait for the lockout to be lifted soon and eventually this will prove cheering for our fans who want to see us playing during the season.
The current lockout in the league is forcing many players to play overseas and many players have already signed with several international basketball clubs but Durant has yet to make a decision on his overseas playing chances.
