Kevin Durant promises a celebrity exhibition game in Oklahoma City: NBA Update
The National Basketball Association lockout might have taken away the excitement and pleasure of seeing the basketball action; however the NBA players are taking initiative by themselves and are keeping the fan base alive by organizing
some enlivening basketball events from time to time.
In an effort to bring some basketball action for the Oklahoma City fans, the scoring machine of the city, Kevin Durant (KD) is preparing to orchestrate an eventful celebrity exhibition game. Oklahoma City Thunders’ prolific scorer
released a statement to confirm that an action-packed night, full of NBA stars, is near for the Oklahoma City fans. Even though the date has not been decided yet, however it is expected that the event will take place within this month.
“I want to try to do it and get not just our players from our team but guys all around the league to come play in it and make it a nice event. I want to do it just for the fans of Oklahoma City who haven't seen us play. If the
lockout goes throughout the month of October, that's when I'll try to set that up.” Durant said.
Durant also mentioned the difficulty in securing a venue to play the game. As part of the lockout, NBA restricts the players to work out or organize any kind of event at the team’s facility and finding a suitable place, where a
large number of spectators can be adjusted, has thus become a dilemma for KD.
“It's more than just saying you want to do it. Finding a place to play, because you know if we do it it's going to be packed. Everybody in Oklahoma City is going to want to see it.” Durant said.
Kevin Durant has been the highlight of Pro-Am and Charity game ever since the NBA lockout started. His most recent exploit was in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where paired up with New Orleans Hornets Chris Paul, KD unleashed
a 48 point blitz against a team of Dwyane Wade and LeBron James. Durant’s team won that game 175-146.
