Kevin Durant says LeBron James deserves the MVP award - NBA Update
The chances for LeBron James 3rd MVP award have became brighter than ever as Kevin Durant, who is the only one closely contesting LeBron for the award, has conceeded that James deserves to win it.
“He deserves all the love (for MVP),” said Thunder forward Kevin Durant. “He's playing phenomenal basketball. I'm just trying to get better every single game and trying to help my team as much as I can. I'm just blessed to be in
that conversation.”
James is leading Miami in all aspects this season. He is the lead scorer with 27.1 points per game and has also topped the charts in rebounds (7.9) and assists (6.2) per game respectively and is running a more successful show as
compared to his previous 2009, 2010 MVP seasons.
On the other hand, KD is tallying 27.9 points, 8 boards and 3.5 assists per game and is well on his way to win the NBA scoring title for a third year running. As far as the stats are concerned, both LeBron and Durant are on a parallel
plane, but the thing that has really drawn the line is King James superior play in April.
One can’t simply undermine the significance of big three in Heat; however in the past few games James has been all alone and still has led Miami to one win after another. Wade has been on and off the court throughout the season,
allowing James to carry the team on his back and he has done that successfully.
On the other hand, Durant and OKC have seen a bit of slump this month. The prime reason for that has been the fading form of Russell Westbrook, the Thunder point guard who is the secondary offensive outlet for Oklahoma. That pretty
much has revealed the extent of impact that Westbrook also holds in Thunder’s success.
Whereas this season has pretty much shown that Miami only heat up when the King gets going. The pace and charisma which he brings in with his presence cannot be associated with any other player in the team, or the league. He has
been the most valuable among the scores of valuable NBA players this season and Erik Spoelstra, his coach, concurs to that.
“I think LeBron is having a historic season, and he's doing it on so many different levels," said Heat coach, "For us to be successful, it goes without saying (James) has to have an MVP-calibre season. … He's having a spectacular
season."
By the end of the day the race to MVP will all come down to the fans and their voting but with KD conceding James’ superiority, the race is already over.
