Kevin Durant says he is a better post player now – NBA Update
Oklahoma City Thunder super star Kevin Durant does not have too many kinks in his armoury.
However, what little improvements, he does require are certainly being worked on. The Thunder small forward has revealed that he has been working hard this off season and believes that his fans will be pleasantly surprised by the
improvement he has made in his post game.
“My post game. I think it’s grown leaps and bounds with me being comfortable down there and having a different array of moves to work with.” He said, according to News OK.
Durant is a back to back NBA scoring champion and there is no denying that fact, that the player has immense ability. He combines his large size with good athleticism and precision shooting to devastating effect on the offensive
end, and defences around the league have suffered from that.
However, one criticism of Durant has been his post game. His detractors, or well wishers for that matter, have been pointed out for a while, that for a player with his size and ability; his numbers in the post are not as impressive
as they could be.
Durant realized that as well, but he said that it wasn’t as easy as it looks. There is a certain amount of work that goes into improving in the post, and only some of the greats of the game had truly mastered the craft.
“A lot of people want to see a post game, but they don't really know what goes into it.”
However Durant has been practicing in a gym and he added, that come the regular season, the intensity level will be much higher and so will be the difficulty to deliver all what he has learnt;
“But it's going to be tougher during the season to do that because of a lot of double teams. A lot of (defenders) are going to be watching if I sit in the post. If I catch it they're going to bring a double team. So I've been working
on passing out of it and making the right decisions as well.”
The fact however remains that Durant is one of the most gifted athletes currently playing in the NBA. Time after time, Kevin produced stunning offensive displays to haul his young Thunder team to wins over more illustrious opponents.
He was the main architect of a journey that, against all odds, took Thunder to the Western Conference Finals. Pitched up against Dirk Nowitzki, Kevin was again mesmerizing, but could not match the years of experience and the desire to win.
