Kevin Durant working hard to improve his game in the offseason – NBA Update
Oklahoma City Star Kevin Durant has revealed that he is putting in the hours to take his game to next level this offseason.
The NBA players have had a longer than usual time off because of the NBA lockout, and Durant says he is making the best of it.
The Thunder forward is already considered one of the best players in the league, but such is his dedication to the craft of basketball that Kevin never considered resting on his laurels for one moment. Instead, he says he has room
for improvement and is determined to get better and better.
“Oh, everything — posting up, more play-making skills, shooting off the dribble, everything.” Durant said when asked about what aspects of his game he was improving upon.
The player also went on to reveal that he has studied other NBA stars and is trying to take the best parts of their games and integrate them with his own.
“I’ve just been trying to watch different guys around the league, try to look at some of their tendencies and try to put that in my game as well. So I’ve been learning a lot, watching a lot of film and trying to grow.” He disclosed
in a conversation with ‘Sports Radio Interviews’.
Durant has achieved a lot at his young age already. At 23, he is a two time NBA scoring champion and a multiple time All-Star. He has established himself as the face of Oklahoma City Thunder, despite the presence of many young
stars, such as the formidable Russell Westbrook.
He showed his pedigree in the playoffs last season when he went toe-to-toe with some of the best in the league, including Memphis Grizzlies star Zach Randolph and NBA Finals MVP Dirk Nowitzki.
His displays propelled the Thunder into a showdown with the Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference Finals, and his fans are hoping, the star can lead them even further next season.
Durant has an exceptionally well rounded arsenal, but one part of his game that some analysts believe could see some improvement is posting up. With Durant’s size, speed and skill, many believe he could become a deadly weapon in
the post, but the forward doesn’t have much to show for, so far in that department.
Kevin realizes that but said that he intentionally avoids that aspect to avoid the aggressive instinct of the opposition teams;
“I’ve always wanted to say this but I have a post up game, it’s just a matter of me…I get double-teamed a lot, no team in the NBA is going to allow me to post up and have three or five seconds to do what I do before sending a double-team.”
Even with the apparent kink in his arsenal, Durant is at par with best in the league and in the years to come, the league can see an era of domination involving OKC and Durant.
