Kevin Durant’s exhibition game attracting All-Stars: NBA News
The National Basketball Association (NBA) Lockout might have restricted the players to hold any basketball related activities in their respective team’s facilities. However, in order to keep the fan base alive and to remain in
touch with the game, the NBA players continue to provide the action by organizing different basketball events on their own.
The two-time league scoring champion from the Oklahoma City Thunder has been the face of the exhibition games throughout the lockout. Durant has been showcasing his artistry in arenas all across America ever since the off season
started. However, he had not participated in any such game in his breeding ground, Oklahoma City (OKC).
To be honest, no pro-am game has so far been organized in OKC so far. So naturally, Durant took the responsibility to do so.
Durant is gathering the players to play an exhibition game at the Cox Convention Centre next Sunday. Seven Players from the last year’s All-Star game have already committed to take part in the exhibition game and the list is expected
to grow as the final day approaches.
Former Oklahoma City state standout Desmond Mason, who is the director of the event, recently released the names of only those players, who have fully confirmed their participation. The seven confirmed players are Kevin Durant
and Russell Westbrook of Oklahoma City Thunder, Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire of New York Knicks, LeBron James of Miami Heat, Blake Griffin of Los Angeles Clippers and Chris Paul of New Orleans Hornets.
Jeff Green, John Wall and Rudy g*y are the other players who have confirmed their presence so far.
While talking about the arrangements of the game, Desmond Mason said he was confident to provide an eventful night of basketball.
"It's the next best thing. This pretty much an All-Star game, I think. It's going to be a lot of really good basketball players playing all in one game. So, I think it's going to be fun. It's our version of an All-Star game." Mason
said.
The game is considered as the battle for “Mr. Basketball of Oklahoma” between Durant and one of the most decorated college recruit of Oklahoma City, the sensational Blake Griffin.
Durant will decide each roster based upon the participants and the teams is expected to be finalized in a couple of days. Desmond Mason indicated that each team will have eight to ten players, all from NBA.
"A lot of these guys just want to play. Kevin played in most people's games all summer long, and now it's his opportunity to have his own game that he's hosting, along with Blake, and get some of the guys that he's played in their
games to come out and play." Mason said.
Considering the uncertainty of the lockout with no clue as to when the league will get back to business, the basketball fans will certainly get a cracker of a game, come this Sunday.
