Kevin Durant’s performances in the Western Conference Semifinals against the Memphis Grizzlies - Part 2
Game-high 19 points in Game 5
All-Star Kevin Durant scored a game-high 19 points and pulled down seven rebounds, lifting the Oklahoma City Thunder to a 99-72 victory against the Memphis Grizzlies in game-5 at the Oklahoma City Arena. With the victory, the Thunder took a crucial 3-2 lead
in the best-of-seven series. The 22-year-old won the game for OKC in the first three quarters and spent the entire fourth quarter on the bench.
11 points and seven rebounds in Game 6
The eighth-seeded Grizzlies avoided elimination by stunning the Thunder with 95-83 decision in the game-6 of the semifinals at the FedEx Forum. The victory evened up the best-of-seven series at three games apiece. Durant, had a very bad outing and added
only 11 points, on a 3-of-14 shooting from the field, wrapped with seven rebounds.
He was aghast at his performance after the game “It was frustrating to go out there and prepare so hard and not play as hard as I wanted to. However, I have to stay positive. My teammates always encourage me, so I feel good about that. I just have to get
back to work tomorrow. It is going to be a tough Game 7 at our place, so I am looking forward to it.
Game-high 39 points in Game 7
In the series decider, Durant bounced back in style and erupted with a game-high 39 points as the Thunder won the game, and the series, by 105-90 at the Oklahoma City Arena. With this victory, Oklahoma City qualified for the Western Conference Finals against
the Dallas Mavericks. In addition to a 39-point performance, Durant also grabbed nine rebounds and blocked three shots.
Durant had a perfect night, where he not only made his signature clutch shots but also opened up the court with his plays. Durant found his rhythm in the game, shooting 13-for-25 from the field, 4-for-9 from three-point range and a perfect 9-for-9 from the
free-throw line.
The leading scorer for the Thunder, started to turn it on in the second quarter and put his team in control late in the third. He then slammed a pair of two-handed dunk in the final stanza to finish the night.
Durant acknowledged the great support of his teammates in his sizzling performance and said, “I just attacked the basket, tried to get to the free-throw line and get in better positions to score,” “My teammates did a better job of getting me in position.”
