Kevin Garnett all praise for the Boston Celtics fans – NBA News
When Kevin Garnett was asked a simple question about a foul call and the ensuing response from the fans at the TD Garden in the game 5 victory against the Philadelphia 76ers, he took it as an opportunity to let his fans know how
he feels about them and how they motivate him and his team.
The call game during the 3rd quarter of the game and seemed to have caused an instant stir among the thousands of Celtics fans, who were in the TD Garden to cheer their team on.
Garnett fed off that energy and referring to the incident said after the game:
“Man, we're sparked. This d**n crowd here sparks you. It doesn't take much here, man. When speaking about this crowd, it's like plugging in, man. You're enthused for 48 minutes on, from tip on. So I can't see the difference between
minute from minute. I feel like every minute I look up I see my family, I see people yelling, I see the drunk fat guy. I can't decipher. I'm telling you, I can't decipher one from the other. This crowd is ridiculous. I love it."
When Garnett was asked later on to compare the crowd at the TD Garden with the one in Philadelphia, he didn't waste a second to take a shot at them:
“Not even close. You've got fans and then you've got fair weather fans. Take it how you want it."
The Boston Celtics fans are well known for their support for the team. It is because the Celtics as a franchise and club is one of the most celebrated ones in the history of the NBA, and one of the most awarded and decorated as
well. Much like the Lakers in Los Angeles, the Celtics have become a house hold name in Boston and a symbol of pride and success.
Ever since the Big 3 of Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen were assembled in Boston, the fans have seen their Celtics rise from a low level team to championship contenders, giving them a taste of the Celtics team that won
so many NBA championships back in the Larry Bird era.
And Garnett and company gave the fans exactly what they wanted, a much awaited NBA championship in 2007. This year, they are close to that aim one more time. And fans can’t get enough of the atmosphere and the feeling one gets
when winning.
The Philadelphia 76ers are also a historic and decorated club, with their most recent peak during the days of Allen Iverson and Dikembe Mutombo. The 76ers fans also know what success means and are desperate for their team to progress
into the NBA Eastern Conference Finals, giving them something to celebrate about.
After Garnett’s comparison, expect the Sixers fans to be charged up when Boston travels to Philadelphia for game 6.
