Kevin Garnett and Boston Celtics praise new look Brooklyn Nets – NBA News
The New Jersey Nets were one of those teams in the NBA who were not taken very seriously. Not being able to make it to the playoffs since the 2006-07 NBA season, the Nets were never the game that opponents would be worried about,
or would mark on their calendar as a test of their abilities and endurance. However, after spending millions of dollars on the team roster as well as marketing campaigns, the newly shifted Brooklyn Nets are the complete opposite of what the team formerly represented.
"With Joe Johnson and with Deron [Williams] and everybody, they're going to be a force to be reckoned with. They're nothing like last year. They're going to be strong,” said Boston Celtics All Star Kevin Garnett after a Tuesday
night preseason fixture against the Nets which they lost 96-97.
The Nets have acquired some great talent in the offseason and added tremendous depth to the roster, and will be one of the favourites to clinch a playoff berth in the Eastern Conference next season. And after receiving some words
of encouragement as well as acknowledgement from many of the NBA players, the Nets know they have something special going on and will look to take full advantage from it next season.
“It means a lot, especially coming from KG given all he's done in this league. At the same time, we've gotta go out there and play basketball, nothing's gonna be given to us. We have what I feel is a really good team on paper.
We're really deep but we have to come together and jell as a team,” said Nets point guard Deron Williams after being told what Kevin Garnett had to say about the team.
Courtney Lee was on the New Jersey Nets team that finished with a 12-70 record three seasons ago. He clearly remembers the fan response he got from the audience and the atmosphere during Nets home games, and says what he experienced
on Tuesday inside the Barclays Center was something he never felt as a member of the Nets.
The Nets organization has done a great job in adding excitement and interest to their move to Brooklyn, and has taken the Brooklyn fans onboard since day one, creating a loyal fan base in the process. They also have the talent
on the roster to do big things in the league. It all comes down now to how they play on the floor when the season starts.
