Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce impressed with Miami Heat star LeBron James – NBA Playoffs Update
The Boston Celtics were on the verge of another NBA Finals appearance and had the perfect setting to go through, playing at the TD Garden in game-6 of the Eastern Conference Finals, when LeBron James took that away. The Miami Heat super star was simply magnificent
as he denied the Celtics and his display didn’t only impress teammates and fans, it moved his opponents as well.
Two of the veterans of Boston Celtics, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce, have remarked after the game on what was a truly great performance from LeBron. Pierce and Garnett are future Hall of Famers and still some of the best around despite their advancing years,
so it had to be something special to make them stand up and take notice.
James provided just that. 45 points and 15 rebounds as he carried the Heat to a win in the hostile TD Garden, all the while Paul Pierce and his mates looked helpless to stop him.
“He hit a lot of shots he hasn't been hitting all series,” Boston forward Paul Pierce added. “I've had that feeling before and sometimes there's nothing you can do about it.”
Kevin Garnett, who has been the lynchpin for most of Boston’s success this post-season, also admitted that LeBron simply found another gear in game-6.
“LB was in a groove and he never looked back,” Kevin Garnett said.
What was even more impressive was how James maintained his intensity from start to finish. Usually a light hearted fellow, James was locked in throughout the contest, of which he played most of the minutes. And it wasn’t the first time either.
James has not only been putting up superb performances throughout the playoffs, he has also been putting up un-real minutes on the court. It’s something that has his teammate James Jones left scratching his head.
“To be able to play the game the way he played it, you can't have these huge emotional swings, those big highs and lows,” Jones said. “You could tell he was a little more focused because of the magnitude of this one. Even in the huddles, he had this energy,
this activity. He was upbeat like there was no question he could play every minute and every second if we needed him to.”
Pierce and Garnett will be hoping they can knock some of that intensity out of James’ game for the decider in Miami.
