Kevin Garnett fined $25K for missing media session after Game 7 loss – NBA News
After the Boston Celtics lost the Game 7 of their Eastern Conference Final Series against the Miami Heat with a score line of 101-88, two of their best players, Rajon Rondo and Kevin Garnett were seen leaving the court in the American
Airlines Arena with still time remaining on the clock.
Following the loss, both of the players were expected to make to the press conference however after a heart breaking loss, Kevin Garnett opted not make himself available to the media. Once he did that repercussions were always
expected and they came in the form of a hefty fine on Wednesday, when it was announced by NBA`s executive vice president (basketball operations), Stu Jackson that Garnett has been fined $25,000 for not making it to the post match press conference.
Garnett who has an annual salary of $21.2 million will not have any trouble in paying that due, however one thing that will trouble in the off season is that this might have been his last game with the Celtics as his contract with
the Boston franchise expires over the summer. What the future holds for Garnett is still not clear but in regard to the rebuilding process, this Boston team might have to hold on KG for another year or two to help them get back on track.
Another key player for the Celtics who is in the last year of his contract with the Boston team is Ray Allen. Allen`s performances have been very low this year, but has mainly been due to injuries to his ankle. The sharp shooter
had a surgery today on the troubled ankle and when fit, he can be an asset to any team.
The future for both these players is still not decided however the Celtics may be inclined towards keeping Garnett, who along with Rondo, was the main reason for the Celtics to make it to the conference finals. Garnett, although
36, played like a man possessed this postseason and on many nights, his brilliance turned out to be the difference between a win and a loss for the Greens.
