Kevin Garnett needs time to decide on future: Boston Celtics President Danny Ainge – NBA Update
Boston Celtics veteran Kevin Garnett right now faces one of the most important decisions of his career, with the player torn over whether to stay with the Celtics, move to another team, or retire altogether. There have been many rumours regarding Garnett’s
decision but the truth is that the player is yet to make it.
Now Boston Celtics President Danny Ainge has come out to say that his prized forward will need more time to come to a decision and that the Celtics are willing to give it to him. Ainge remarked that he had met Kevin to discuss the latter’s future and at
the moment they were only halfway into the decision making process.
"Kevin and I had a good conversation last week and the conversation was mostly on how he needs time before he makes that decision," Ainge said during an appearance Wednesday on Boston sports radio WEEI-93.7 FM. "I think we'll talk within the next week, but
I'm not so sure that's a decision day for him. He may want to wait and see what sort of team we have. I'm not sure.”
Kevin has been hugely successful since joining the Boston powerhouse back in 2007. He won an NBA World Championship in just his first year at the franchise and has since cemented his place as a basketball legend. Now with his age wearing him down and a contract
ending, Kevin needs to decide whether to stay with Boston or move away.
Ainge though is positive that the player will remain a Celtic and the great rapport he has built with the franchise and the coach will be a big factor.
"I know that he wants to come back. I know he likes Boston, and I know he loves playing for (coach) Doc (Rivers). He loves everything about the team and the city and so forth."
Garnett is not the only high profile free agent at Boston this summer, with veteran shooter Ray Allen also on the end of a contract. Boston could end up with a new look unit if both veterans decide to leave, ending an era of success at the franchise.
