Kevin Garnetts’ double-double powers Boston Celtics over Utah Jazz 94 – 82 – NBA Recap
On Wednesday night the Boston Celtics hosted the Utah Jazz at the TD Garden, Boston, MA. Kevin Garnett had a great night putting up a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds to help the Celtics beat Jazz 94-82.
At the start of the first, Boston had all the momentum. They ran out of the blocks to race to a 4-0 lead. The Jazz then settled into the game and gave the Celtics a run for their money, ending the quarter on a high, leading by
3 points (21-18).
Brandon Bass led Celtics with 7 points and Rajon Rondo had 4 assists to his name in the period while Gordon Hayward paced the Jazz with 5 points.
In the second quarter, Boston came out with all guns blazing. They first tied the game and then raced off with the lead as the match went along. Boston outscored the Jazz 28-14 in the quarter, leading by 11 points at half time
(46-35).
Paul Pierce had 11 points and Rondo added three more assists, taking his total to 7 assists. While from the Jazz side, Hayward was trying to put up a fight with 9 points. Devin Harris added 5 assists.
It was truly a game of two halves, as the Jazz came back to make a run, cutting the lead down to 5 at the end of the third period, outscoring and outhustling the veterans from Boston 26-20.
Utah started the fourth quarter with momentum on their side as the team from Salt Lake City cut the lead to 3 (66-63) with 11:29 remaining in the game. They further went on to tie the game at 66 all from an Alec Burks free throw
with 11:07 remaining in the game.
The veterans from Boston had to dig deep to come out of this game with a win. Kevin Garnett’s double-double performance and 20 points from Paul Pierce ultimately turned out to be the difference in the end.
Rondo, who has been averaging 12.5 assists for the month of March, had another masterful performance orchestrating his Celtic side to a hard fought win over the Utah Jazz, ending the game with 14 assists.
The noticeable person missing in action was Ray Allen, is still suffering from an ankle injury and has missed his fourth consecutive game. But the night belonged to Kevin Garnett who put up another great performance which is equal
to his legendary status to be in the NBA records.
"He's been playing like that a lot since the second half of the season and we've been going to him a lot more. He really is inspiring to his teammates when he's got it going like that on both ends of the court and we kind of feed
off his energy." Pierce remarked on Garnett's play.
This was Boston`s 7th win in a row at home.
