Question:

Kevin Gregg for Robison Cano?

I only start Cano when Uggla has a day off, so I don't care for him, but the guy offering me Gregg desperatly needs Cano. I can only start 3 RP's. I currently have Morrow, Nathan, Valverde and Belford on the bench, so this will make 2 benched RP's.

Should I pass and not give him Cano, or take the trade and possibly drop Belford?

  1. Pass on the trade.  Cano is starting to come on strong.  He should have a good 2nd half.  Your relievers are already good.  If Cano plays well for a while, you might be able to get something you actually need for him.

  2. Cano has greater value than Gregg. I'd certainly look to trade him, but you can do better, especially with the signs of life he's been showing recently.

  3. A couple of things to consider if adding Cano will help your trading partner: where is he in relation to you in the standings and who do you start if Uggla is injured?

Adding Gregg would give you a closer if one of your primary CLs were injured (Percival will get save opps over Balfour) but it's easier to find a decent RP thank 2B.

If you're looking good for the playoffs you may want to pull the trigger otherwise make the other guy work for it.

  4. I think any trade to get rid of Cano is a good trade.  I've had him, traded him, got him back and traded him away again.  Every time I think he's going to be worth it he proves me really wrong.  Don't let go of Morrow though whatever you do, he's got a lot of talent.

  5. I would make the trade for Gregg.

Cano hasn't been impressive this year and if you already have Uggla, you're going to only get limited use out of Cano even if he does heat up.

You do have some good closers already, however Putz may make it back to his closer role soon.. so Gregg would be good insurance in case Morrow loses that job.
