The Borussia Dortmund winger reckons that the Royal Blues are not capable of winning the Bundesliga crown this season.
Kevin Grosskreutz believes that Schalke will not be able to capitalize on the impressive start to the season and will soon run out of contention to win this season’s Bundesliga.
He stated that Huub Stevens’ men do not have what it takes to win the title, therefore Bayern Munich are the only title rivals for his side. The player insisted that Schalke were never in running to win this year’s crown after
finishing the 2010/11 campaign on the 14th spot.
The winger mentioned that the Bundesliga will be a two-horse race between his side and Bayern as the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Royal-95-c40387 Blues will eventually drop points. He added that no one expected Schalke to make such a huge impact before the start of
this season. However, he is still unsure of Die Knappen’s chances over the remaining course of the campaign.
Grosskreutz, on the other hand, confirmed that the Borussians will fight till the very end in order to regain their Bundesliga crown. He insisted that even a place in the next year’s UEFA Champions League will be a huge success
for Jurgen Klopp’s side, who were extremely disappointing this season in Europe.
Dortmund finished bottom of Group F with just one win to their name from six games.
While talking to sports website, Bild.com, the former Rot Weiss Ahlen star further added:
"At the beginning of the season, no-one expected that the team would be so high in the table. But the Blues are not champions anyway. Bayern are another favourite. If we finish second or third, and qualify for the Champions League,
that would be a huge success."
Borussia Dortmund are currently second in the league standings with 40 points from 19 outings, level with Bayern Munich and Schalke. However, the Reds are atop the league standings due to a superior goal difference.
Dortmund are fresh from a 3-1 win over Hoffenheim on Saturday, January 28, at the Westfalenstadion and Jurgen Klopp’s men will next travel away to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/1-FC-Nuremberg-c38162 this Friday.
