Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch quickest in practice for Camping World Truck Series – NASCAR news
Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch posted the quickest times in practice session 1 and 2 at the F.W. Webb 175 in New Hampshire.
There were fears that the practice session could be delayed after rain and fog in the early hours of the day. However, the race crew managed to dry the track in time for both practice sessions.
In the first session, Harvick’s best time was clocked at 28.988 seconds, with Brendan Gaughan finishing 0.195 seconds behind him. Jason White finished third with Miguel Paludo, the only rookie in the top 10, finishing fourth.
Austin Dillon, who will be looking to take the Championship lead in the race, finished fifth with Kyle Busch in sixth and Ron Hornaday in seventh. Overall points’ leader James Buescher finished eighth with fellow contender Johnny Sauter in 9th.
The second practice session was lead by Busch who posted the exact same speed and time as Kevin Harvick did in the first session.
Dillon improved on his performance and finished just 0.016 seconds behind Busch in second place. Joey Coulter finished third with Timothy Peters, Todd Bodine and Matt Crafton finishing in fourth, fifth and sixth places respectively.
James Buescher will be looking to perform better in the race as he finished seventh, five positions below Dillon.
Kevin Harvick did not race in the second session.
Mexican driver German Quiroga, making his first appearance in the Camping World Truck Series, finished a respectable 15th and 17th in the two practice sessions.
Buescher leads Dillon with just three points, with Johnny Sauter another three points behind him. Timothy Peters is 20 points behind Buescher in the race and four-time champion Ron Hornaday is 47 points adrift in the overall table.
For Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick, this was a perfect warm up before Sunday’s Sylvania 300 Chase race and both will be looking to get further practice in the Camping World Truck Series race on Saturday.
