Kevin Kouzmanoff sparks as Colorado Rockies defeat San Francisco Giants 6-3 - MLB Update

Colorado Rockies’ third baseman, Kevin Kouzmanoff had a tremendous day with the bat as he went 3-for-5 with an average of .255 and hit two RBIs in the Rockies’ 6-3 win against the San Francisco Giants at AT&T Park, San Francisco on September 28.
Rockies’ batters contributed two runs in the first inning to get a 2-0 lead. Eric Young Jr. added the first run for Rockies when Dexter Fowler singled off centre-field. Seth Smith was ground out to second base and Fowler added the second run. Kouzmanoff
occupied third base to end the first inning. Thomas Field drove a single-run shot to centre-field but Young Jr. struck-out and Fowler fouled out without scoring runs in the second inning.
Similarly, Giants’ starter Eric Surkamp ground out to third base, Justin Christian popped out to first base and Jeff Keppinger ground out to second base without taking any run at the bottom of third inning. Field singled off left-field but Ty Wigginton ground
out, Jordan Pacheco fouled out and Drew Pomeranz struck-out during the fourth inning.
At the bottom of the fourth, Carlos Beltran and Brett Pill both lined out to short-stop position while Pat Burrell struck-out swinging. Rockies advanced their lead 4-0 at the top of fifth inning when the batters added two runs. Fowler contributed a single
run when Kouzmanoff drove towards left-field. The second run was taken by Kouzmanoff when Pacheco singled off centre-field and Smith moved to second base.
Giants were able to post three runs during the sixth inning to cut their deficit 4-3. Christian added one run when Keppinger drove a single-run shot to centre-field. The second and third runs for San Francisco were taken by Keppinger and Pill when Mark DeRosa
hit a single-run drive to centre-field. In the seventh inning, Rockies put in two runs to take a 6-3 lead.
DeRosa said, “If I can keep playing, I'm going to keep doing that. If I can't, I'm going to take a break and be a stay-at-home dad for a minute.”
Mark Ellis scored one run when Kouzmanoff doubled to deep centre-field. The final run for Colorado was taken by Kouzmanoff when Pacheco hit a single-run drive to centre-field. Smith moved towards second base to complete the seventh inning.
Despite this exciting win, Rockies lost the three-game series 2-1 against the Giants at San Francisco.
