Kevin Love losing patience with the Minnesota Timberwolves – NBA News
Even though Kevin Love signed a contract extension with the Minnesota Timberwolves in January this year, there is no guarantee that he will remain a Wolves starter for the coming few years.
Love is growing impatient with the inability of the Wolves to make it to the playoffs and wants some additions to the team so they can start winning in the NBA.
Love was recently selected to his first Olympics by the U.S team after training sessions in Las Vegas.
Speaking to Yahoo Sports after the selection, Love said:
"My patience is not high. Would yours be, especially when I'm a big proponent of greatness surrounding itself with greatness? All these (Team USA) guys seem to have great players around them,” said Love.
Love agreed to a four year $62 million contract with the Wolves in January. He had a fabulous season for them, averaging 26 points and 13.3 rebounds while earning himself Most Valuable Player nominations. He
did his part in keeping the Wolves playoffs hopes alive. But a season ending injury to point guard Ricky Rubio had the Wolves roster depleted and they failed to close the season in winning fashion.
It did not help that Love missed the last few games of the season with a concussion. The Wolves ended the season with a 26-40 record and missed the playoffs, even though they were in strong contention at one
point in the season.
“It's tough seeing all these guys that are young and older who have all played in the playoffs. When they start talking about that, I have nothing to talk about. If I don't make the playoffs next year, I don't
know what will happen,” said Love.
The Minnesota Timberwolves have so far added Brandon Roy to the team and traded with the Houston Rockets for Chase Budinger. However, Love feels that the additions are still not enough and the Wolves need to
make some decisions.
“We need to make some moves. We can't just stand still. We have to make this happen," said Love.
Wolves General Manager David Kahn, while talking to Yahoo Sports, said that the sense of urgency that Love is feeling at the moment is understandable but feels that the Wolves were moving in the right direction
last season till injuries kicked in. This year, with the additions he has made, Kahn feels the Wolves have a chance of qualifying for the playoffs.
