Kevin Love not happy after his stats get removed from the Minnesota Timberwolves Website – NBA News
So far, the NBA lockout is at a standstill. The entire issue seems to be in a state of deadlock and this not only has this put players in a limbo over their future, but its consequences have angered some indirectly.
Kevin Love of the Minnesota Timberwolves is the latest to register a complaint against the NBA, for taking his statistics down from the Timberwolves’ website.
The Timberwolves power forward has had a successful start to his NBA career and last season, he emerged as the new post sensation in the league. He has made a name for himself in the last three years; however, nothing of it is
being recognized as of now.
When the lockout was announced by David Stern on July 1, all NBA teams were ordered to remove the stats of league players from their team websites. This included all content that featured the players, even their game shots and
names.
“They took everything off,” said a rather bemused Love. “I laughed, but it’s not funny. You take everyone off? You go on our website and it’s the dancers and Crutch our mascot. I think it’s cool for the charity events, but not
using any of the players, it’s silly. Let’s get this thing resolved and play basketball. It’s disheartening to fans and to us. Let’s get it figured out.”
Love, along with many others is finding this situation rather unnecessary. He just wants to get back on the court and play basketball. “I want to be able to say I played 15 years, a full 15 years”, said the big man.
Love is still trying to remain optimistic regarding the lockout-affected season, even though he feels that it will take a long time for the lockout situation to get resolved. He admitted that an 82-game season seemed to be equivalent
to wishful thinking as of now
He also recalled the 1999 50-game season and hoped that this time it will at least be longer than 50 games. “Hopefully it will be more than 50 games, and we won’t have to play back-to-back-to-back (games). I really hope it is all
82.” stated the 6ft 10 inch star.
Kevin Love had a breakout season last time around, the climax of which was witnessed when he record a 30-30 game to mark the first time any player had done so, since Moses Malone did it in the early 80’s. His season averages last
year were 20.2 points per game and an astounding 15.2 rebounds per game. Currently, he is taking part in the Jose Cuervo Pro Beach Volleyball Series’ Manhattan Beach Open on Aug 26, and using this time to relax and prepare for the upcoming season.
