Kevin Love not optimistic on the lockout situation – NBA Update
The face of Minnesota Timberwolves, Kevin Love did not have many words of encouragement for the fans, when he gave an interview in New York recently. The player revealed that he did not believe that the lockout would be over soon,
even though, he was hoping otherwise.
Love is in New York to participate in and promote a beach volley ball tournament in the city. He is still looking for a partner to play with him. He took time out to speak with reporters about the current NBA situation and was
not too upbeat. The Minnesota Timberwolves star went as far as to say that he was certain, games will be lost,
“My gut feeling is it’s going to be a long time,” said Love. “I’m hoping and praying it’s not. I want to be able to say I played 15 years, a full 15 years. But it’s looking like its going to be a long time. Hopefully it will be
more than 50 games, and we won’t have to play back-to-back-to-back. I really hope it is all 82.”
Kevin Love led the NBA in rebounding last season and in a few years, has emerged as one of the best big men on the planet. The coveted forward’s assertions about the lockout will not be music to the ear’s of NBA fans, but they
do come with a dose of reality.
The league and the owners have not budged from what many have termed “unfair” demands and they have neither given any indication of doing so in the future. For its part, the National Basketball Players Association still wants to
negotiate and the union’s executive director Billy Hunter has resisted pressure so far to decertify and sue.
If they do go down that route, the loss of game will almost be guaranteed, even the whole season.
On a lighter note Kevin made some remarks over the ridiculous situation with the NBA’s official website. David Stern has ordered the website not to use pictures of current NBA players and also to remove a lot of other material.
It is incredulous to see the NBA website without the NBA players. Love had this to say on the matter,
“They took everything off,” Love said. “I laughed, but it’s not funny. You take everyone off? You go on our website and it’s the dancers and Crutch our mascot. I think it’s cool for the charity events, but not using any of the
players, it’s silly. Let’s get this thing resolved and play basketball. It’s disheartening to fans and to us. Let’s get it figured out.”
There is finally some partial good news for NBA fans over the lockout situation as the two sides have decided to meet on Monday to resume talks.
